Children who participate in the CHAPS Program often want to return to the site to help out and stay involved. They enjoy being outdoors, enjoy the peaceful environment and enjoy being around the horses. CHAPS offers these children the opportunity to participate in community service projects outside of the set programs. These projects include the following: cleaning stalls; cleaning gates and railings; cleaning water troughs; cleaning water buckets and feed pails; weeding arena and round pen and other projects. By offering these types of activities, CHAPS strives to instill in the children a strong sense of ownership, stewardship and pride.
